I am native of Indiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ball State University in 1993. I double majored in Painting and Graphic Design and have been a professional artist since completing my degrees.
I draw most of my influence from the things of creation and details of our natural surroundings. I am convicted and passionate about creating art that drives a consciousness of change.
I enjoy experiencing various mediums including many painting techniques, drum making, woodworking and trade bead jewelry design. I love versatility because it allows me to delve into the process. My art is about expressing the journey and capturing the essence of life. I am called to be lead by nature and spirit, ever embracing the rhythm of Mother Earth.
My extensive body of work called Text Trees has been an ongoing concept related to my deep environmental connection. This work couples the passion for painting and the intuitive flow of words, which translate the language of my spirit. These intimate oil paintings are derived from my nationally known Tree Book. The Tree Book is a majestic, one of a kind, non-traditional sculpture can be seen on the Tree Book page. This attention commanding work can be used as an educational tool for environmental education for children. It may also be installed in your corporate space by contacting me. This piece is available for purchase.
I also want to share my creative spirit with younger minds, and have designed and created many murals with and for children. My murals resonate a dynamic experience for the viewer. I have murals in public and private spaces. I have been a two and three-dimensional artist for the Indiana State Museum. My extensive work is collected by many art enthusiasts around the country.
